Our Mission
Nutritious food made from scratch
Our menu is developed and prepared by the Little Explorers chef and focuses on homemade, well balanced and diverse meals that help children grow and develop well.
The meals provided are fresh, tasty and nutritious. We know that developing healthy eating habits from a young age are critical and last a lifetime. Therefore We source our fruits and vegetables from Riverford Organic Farmers to ensure the highest qualify of food is provided.
We believe that it is extremely important to promote physical activity and spending time outdoors to maintain a healthy body. Therefore, throughout the day, we provide children with the opportunity to decide if they would like to spend time indoors or outdoors in the garden, where they are able to explore plants, our very own bug hotel, climb and play.
In addition to this, we ensure children are enjoying weekly outdoor adventures, trips to the park and mini beast hunts. Whereas indoors they are able to participate in activities that stimulate their physical development.
Healthy Body
Looking after our environment
Little Explorers Nursery believe in an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible world for all. Educating the children of today in order to influence the way future generations live.
We have started to grow our own herbs and vegetables with the children, using water from the water butt, meaning children can sample their home grown produce during snack and meal times and they learn a huge amount about their surrounding environment at the same time.
Children are encouraged to be considerate with their actions by recycling and caring for the environment just as part of everyday play and being in the nursery. We talk about nature and the importance of respect and caring for the environment every day, whether it be through a mud kitchen, bug garden or clearing up after lunch.
We have also reduced the use of plastic at the nursery through providing each child with a reusable bag for their dirty clothes.
Learning through play
At Little Explorers Nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to ensure that each unique child at the nursery is developing according to their own individual needs . Observations of children at play are made regularly to provide stimulating activities, both indoors and outdoors, focused around interests and needs of children.
Activities and the individual layout of each room will change regularly according to children's interests.
