The Caterpillar Room

The Caterpillar room is home to four babies aged between birth and  2 years old.

They are looked after by two qualified members of staff. The room is filled with a wide range of educational toys, puzzles, books and various resources which stimulate children's senses and curiosity. Each day, we provide carefully thought through activities based around children's interests and needs, including sensory and messy play activities which provide babies with a hands-on learning experience.

We believe that parents/carers are their children's first educators and we hugely value strong partnerships with them. We promote partnerships with parents/carers by welcoming participation in play and encouraging open and respectful relationships between practitioners and children's families.

We aim to build a consistency between the nursery and children's life at home to increase the chances of a continuous and stimulating learning experience. Each key person is responsible for the planning of activities and provision of 'next steps' for your child's learning and so we ensure that parents can actively and freely speak to the key person about the child's behaviour, routine, concerns and to seek advice.

Each parent receives verbal feedback at the end of each day along with a "How was my day?" sheet, which outlines how much their child has eaten, what they ate, when were nappies changed, how long they slept and a highlight of the day. This further enhances communication between parents and the nursery.

The Butterfly Room

The Butterfly Room is home to a maximum number of 12 toddlers aged between 2 and 4 years old. Every three toddlers are supervised by one member of staff. In The Butterfly room we allow children to lead their play. Our role is to stimulate and develop their interests by providing play opportunities and learning in engaging and interesting ways. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage across the curriculum to ensure the highest quality of learning.  As the room leads directly out to the garden, a free-flow experience between the garden and the indoors is available at all times, so children can choose where they would like to play.
